NEW YORK, Oct 15, 2013/ — Unveiling her bridal collection last week during New York Bridal Week, Vera Wang broke away from the 173-year tradition of white bridal gowns by proposing pink and red as the new colors when walking down the aisle.
Bright and hopeful, the stunning collection features the usual accruements that make a gown special – from the artful layering and ruching to bigger than life cabbage roses that seemed to be the embellishment de rigueur.
Now, if you’re still not convinced that a wedding gown done in a color other than white is a society no no, then think about this. The white wedding tradition began only in 1840 when Queen Victoria married Prince Phillip.
Before that date, brides wore all kinds of colors beginning with the colors of the rainbow to the more practical brown, gray or even black.
